Art City Gallery

ART CITY Gallery is an unconventional art gallery, established by Maria Alexe in 2015 in Bucharest, Romania, Eastern Europe. Its administrative headquarter is situated on one of the most famous streets in Bucharest, Calea Victoriei. The most interesting part of ART CITY’s activity is the fact that the gallery organizes events in various places, most of them quite unconventional like a Botanical Garden, schools in Bucharest’s suburban areas, university lobbies, an abandoned building in the Danube Delta or in other cities around Romania. Since its inception in 2015, the galley has organized more than 100 exhibitions on different topics and represented more than 55 artists.

The main purpose of the gallery’s activity is educational, along with promotion of talented artists. Their events aim to educate the public by offering opportunities to learn how to admire and how to understand the art displayed in each exhibit. Since it was founded in 2015, Art City  has  encouraged seven artists to enroll in programs offered at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, and it is proud that one of them is now a graduate student completing a Ph.D.

As founder of Art City Gallery I am committed to encouraging all artists to develop their talents and skills, including those who  started professional art studies at a later age.  A noteworthy success story is that of a student who was over 60 when she first attended art university, highlighting the fact that at Art City we represent all talented artists.

Most exhibitions organized by Art City Gallery have an educational purpose such as preserving the environment and historical monuments, building a connection between different communities (United through Art) and fighting against violence.
