Soroptimist International President’s Appeal (SIPA) is a special project of Soroptimist International determined by the needs identified by each president to help achieve gender equality.
SI President Sharon Fisher’s President’s Appeal, The Road to Equality, strategically focuses on taking Action and Advocating on topics affecting women and girls, including Child Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Domestic Violence, Rights of Older Women, Migration, and Human Trafficking.
The Appeal incorporates a mix of projects, alongside information, and education, to build awareness and engage Soroptimists and friends through discussion. A recent addition to the programme are the SI Voices Webinars, where you can hear from a range of experts and grassroots activists on the key subjects.
Through access to tools, facts and stories, Soroptimists raise their capacity to be a global voice for women on their journey towards achieving gender equality. Celebrating 100 years of volunteer work, Soroptimists worldwide are passionate in their efforts to protect the human rights of women and girls and provide opportunities for a brighter future. The President’s Appeal helps shine a light on the most pressing issues that need urgent action in order to secure a healthy and happy future for girls and women everywhere.
The Special Edition of our featured reader’s book Wild Flower- The True Story of a Romanian Girl in Africa contributes directly to the FGM component of SIPA.
