Nile Sisters Development Initiative (NSDI) is a California nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, founded in 2001 by Elizabeth Lou. The NDSI mission is to educate, support, and offer training to refugee and immigrant women and their families in the San Diego area, to help them overcome barriers to social and economic self-reliance. NSDI aids newcomers and migrants to San Diego beyond the initial allocation period, and they also assist refugee and immigrant families who experience difficulties after assimilation. Services fall into three general categories:
- emergency relief
- employment facilitation
- family advocacy and education
Since 2001, Nile Sisters has served thousands of refugees and immigrants.
You can help by volunteering or donating. The following volunteer opportunities are available:
- Community Health Intern
- Case management
- Community workshop and/or event planning
- Office administrative work
- Tutoring certified nursing assistant (CNA) students
Donations are need to purchase supplies for refugee and immigrant families with the most urgent household needs.
