- The Santa Monica Bay Service Unit, led by Dr. Lisette Gold, consists of 40 troops and over 420 Girl Scouts in Santa Monica. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Council, which is the 5th largest council in the nation. Among its projects is the annual SAMOREE, which is the highlight of the year. More than 250 girls and leaders camp out in nature for 3 days and two nights. Camping is how we encourage our Girl Scouts to love nature and become independent adults. The sisterhood that forms from camping with your troop under the stars is priceless.
Many of the high school girls are Mentors in the Outdoor Leadership Council. Girl Scouts never turn away any girls. This year we added archery to our skills program. The cost of archery is expensive due to the very important safety requirements. We are seeking donations to make this amazing program accessible to all Girl Scouts in Santa Monica. Please consider a donation to the SM Service Unit #542 and also consider becoming a Girl Scout Leader. It is a very rewarding community service to work with young women. You teach and mentor the youth to become our leaders of tomorrow. Contact Dr. Lisette Gold at 310-804-6659 or by email SmbaySU542@gmail.com
