Monalisa Okojie is the founder and president of Upward African Woman (UAW). She had been an active volunteer for several other philanthropic organizations in the United States and in Africa. Her experience revealed the need for a program that provides the means for African women to achieve economic independence and for all children under the age of 18 to get an education. In 2014 she founded Upward African Woman, a California based and registered non-profit organization. Its mission is to eliminate poverty, illiteracy, and hopelessness confronting women and children in Africa and within our own city of Los Angeles.
